Every nation has its own great writer, its own literary classics, its poets, to whom the state erects monuments and after whom it names streets and metro stations, and there are also favorite poets and writers. The people choose their favorites. So Belarusians chose their favorite poet — Maksim Bahdanovich and their favorite writer — Uladzimir Karatkevich.
