A collection of poems, a collection of attempts to play oneself on one string that is constantly breaking, a collection of cases of another poet from another window to another blank page
The Case is not a random book of poetry. The Case exists because Belarusian reality exists. Lyrics are an occasion for recitation, recitation is an occasion for provocation, provocation is for reflection, reflection is for privacy, solitude. The most important thing here is said to those who are alone, who are not asked, who talk under their breath, make excuses, stumble, fall. The most important thing is said by chance, through a random consonance, through an instantly picked up (out of thin air!) shield of irony and humor. Short, closed poems emphasize the immensity of the merciless world against which they speak. They speak while falling, with their mouths on the asphalt, in the snow. Dmitry Rubin takes the playful obsession with laughter and death to a new level: he knows what loss, fear and pain are, and therefore his play is real. – Valzhyna Mort
