The book tells the story of Donata Genrikhovna Murzenok (nee Mazheika), who worked as a primary school teacher in the schools of the Postau region in Belarus and in the Saturday Belarusian class in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, for more than forty years. During her life, she taught about 600 Belarusian children to write and read beautifully, dance and sing. The book talks not only about school, but also about the teacher's childhood, the difficult post-war years and her studies at the teacher's college, as well as about the life of village teachers, including life and work in the village of Dvarchany, where she and her husband lived together for forty-five years, and after arriving in Canada they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary. The story also tells how she copes in her old age, left without a husband in a distant country. The book contains photos from the family archives.
