Todar Klyashtorny's winter tale "About a hare, a wolf and a bear" with illustrations by Kateryna Styazhko is a treasure on every Belarusian shelf. But we are convinced that this book will not stay on the shelf - especially if it gets into a house where Belarusian girls and boys are raised. Very attractive, and with an addition - a large coloring book, thanks to which the child gets to know the inhabitants of the Belarusian winter forest! - the tale will capture the attention of the little one more than once. The 8-page accordion book with warm, informative illustrations by the Belarusian artist can be attributed to the popular example of an educational book-chemist, or in German - a vimelbuch. Such books have little or no text, but they are filled with details, develop the child's imagination and speech. A wonderful option both for a joint pastime and for independent knowledge of the world by the little one. But the uniqueness of this winter tale – a vimelbukh – is that the book brings back from oblivion to the new Belarusian generation the personality of Todar Klyashtorny, whose life was tragically cut short on an October night in 1937. The author wrote the tale in 1934 – in an atmosphere of fear and creative persecution. Remaining a talented example of children's literature, the book teaches not only the laws of nature between the lines.
