Escape from Polesie

Valentina Aksak's new book is born on the painful paths of a forced wanderer. The personal pain of an exile from her home is repeatedly amplified by the tragedy of prisoners and tortured in prisons in her homeland. The war of aggression beyond her southern borders does not leave the author any hope for a happy return. And yet the leitmotif of the book is the poet's order to herself: to live life to the fullest! Valentina Aksak comes from the village of Smolichi, in the Nesvizh region. She lives in Minsk. She has a degree in history and experience as a journalist. She has published the poetry books "Cemetery", "Chapel", "Antique Rain", "Wine from California", "Rosewood", "Wild Plum", "Wine Paradise", "Coffee in the Eagle's Nest", "Third Eden". Her poems have been published in translations into Swedish, German, Danish, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, French, Ukrainian, English, Romanian, Finnish, and Spanish.
