Belarus in the light of modern critical social theory

The collection of translations includes articles by the famous Belarusian philosopher Vladimir Furs (1963–2009), published by him between 2004 and 2008. Chronologically, the texts were written by the author in a short period of time, and one can speak of the unity of their conceptual plan/idea. In these articles, U. Furs considers both issues of general theoretical problematics (social theory, modernity, globalization) and offers an analysis of specific cases (public sphere, democracy, university).

In this collection, U. Furs's articles are arranged compositionally from more general philosophical reflections on social dynamics, the development of a dynamic concept of the social, the formation of a relevant conceptual apparatus, the key concept of which is regressive sociality, to the analysis of the Belarusian context as an approbation of previous theoretical conceptual developments.
