Wanderer. Last Memories

"The Wanderer" is the posthumous (2001–2004) memoirs of the poet, translator and public figure Carlos Sherman (1934–2005), a summary of 12 years of experience as vice-president of the Belarusian PEN. Built as a diary of the author's trips around the world, the book at the same time reflects Sherman's entire life path, through eras and continents. Eastern Europe and Latin America are the geographical poles of the story. The personal in the book is closely intertwined with the public, the "Marxist" style of writing is combined with observations of Sherman's contemporary socio-political events in Belarus.
