On August 9, 2020, presidential elections were held in Belarus, and the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko was declared the winner. Many Belarusian citizens considered these elections to be rigged. Thousands of street protests began. The state responded with arrests and repressions. Prisons were overcrowded. In the eleven-meter cell #18 of the Minsk pre-trial detention center on Akrestsina Street, 36 women were imprisoned for almost a week without food, water, medicine, clothing, hygiene products, and almost no air. After their release, we managed to talk to eleven of them. Our story is about them.
