The Code of Absence. Fundamentals of the Belarusian Mentality

This book unexpectedly separated from the lecture series “Fundamentals of the Belarusian Mentality” prepared for the Belarusian Collegium. Having immersed myself in educational work, at some point I felt an urgent need to go beyond the lecture format and throw into one pile all the thoughts about Belarus that had been bothering me for a long time. However, this emotional need had its own, own logic. With the 20th century, the great era of “storm and onslaught” ended, as a result of which independent Belarus emerged. Then something completely different began, but in no way similar to what was dreamed of and dreamed about in the early nineties. We did not get to where we were striving, we ended up not where we wanted to be. Why did this happen? The book “Code of Absence” is my measure of the answer to this question.
