County Sojmiki in the socio-political life of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (1697-1764)

The monograph examines issues related to the functioning of the county assemblies of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the reign of the kings from the Wetin dynasty in 1697–1764. The book determines the venue, number of members and circle of participants of the county assemblies of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, examines the regulations for the convening procedure, the organization of the activities and functioning of the county assemblies, and also studies the development of gentry self-government, shows the position of the county assemblies on issues of domestic and foreign policy of the state, reflects the role of magnate groups in various county assemblies of the Principality, and analyzes the influence of electoral assemblies on the formation of the state.
