Sweet Darusya

"Sweet Darusya" by Maria Matios is a tragic and masterfully written family saga, the events of which take place in the 1930s-70s in Bukovina against the backdrop of changing authorities and state borders during the dramatic times of war and Soviet repression. This is a story about the millstones of history that grind the destinies of two generations of a Ukrainian family. The book was included in the list of the hundred best works of Ukrainian literature according to the Ukrainian PEN Club.
