People's Writer of Belarus Ivan Naumenko is considered a major "war" novelist. It is all the more interesting to turn to his laconic "everyday" stories. Three stories - the "children's" "War near Titovaya Kopanka", the lyrical "Boarding School on Nemiza" and "Farewell in Kovaltsy" - record the inner biography of time, the changing picture of life in three periods: pre-war, post-war and almost modern. The same applies to the stories: the romance of "Seventeenth Spring" is replaced by the pessimism of "Staravilensky Tract". All the works in the collection are interesting in their projection onto today's man and society, which are to a large extent a continuation and result of yesterday.
