The book "Solar Circle" is dedicated to the life and work of Yuri Ostrovsky – a prominent Belarusian biochemist, the founder of the Institute of Biochemistry of the BSSR Academy of Sciences. The author combines scientific accuracy with artistic techniques: using archival documents, diary entries, photographs, and memoirs to create a vivid and psychologically rich portrait of the scientist. The reader will see Ostrovsky not only as a researcher, but also as an educator, public figure, publicist, poet, patriot, and family man. This book is about scientific triumphs and defeats, about responsibility and moral duty, about the path of Belarusian science and its phenomena.

***
The biography of the renowned Belarusian biochemist, founder of the Institute of Biochemistry of the BSSR Academy of Sciences, Academician Yuri Ostrovsky, is written in the relevant tradition of the historical-biographical genre. To recreate reality, the author uses not only archival data and newspaper publications, diary entries, and oral memoirs, but also photographs, personal belongings, and visits to the sites of events. At the same time, the author employs artistic techniques not characteristic of documentary filmmaking, which, without distorting reality, add psychological depth, creating a sense of closeness, involvement, and empathy.

The hero of the book – a true phenomenon in the history of Belarusian science – appears as a researcher and in his other guises: as an educator and public figure, publicist and poet, patriot and family man. The book conveys the atmosphere of scientific inquiry, touches upon questions of moral duty, guides the reader through episodes of triumphs and defeats, and gives
the floor to many representatives of Yu. M. Ostrovsky's school.
It is addressed to scientists, lecturers, postgraduate students, students of medical and natural science specialties, enthusiasts of biographies of famous personalities, and everyone interested in science.
