To the gods, nights are equal

The main character and witness to the events, Raman Zabava, is an officer of Polish military intelligence who carries out secret assignments in Soviet Belarus. It is through his eyes that we observe the daily concerns of Minsk residents in the 1920s, see the specifics of border life, and the Bolshevik system in action. Raman Zabava's unpredictable and dangerous travels, spy schemes, and romantic entanglements—he is one of the "night gods"—could well serve as a good basis even for a Hollywood film adaptation.
