Belarusian folk dream book

What did our ancestors dream about and how did they interpret their dreams? "Belarusian Folk Dream Book" is a unique study that combines scientific analysis and more than two thousand authentic records of dreams. Alina Vysotskaya, an ethnographer and folklore researcher, has been recording dreams from the lips of tradition bearers for more than ten years, collecting valuable material about warnings, signs, magical practices and life experience of Belarusians. This book is a real key to understanding our unconscious and folk culture.

Ethnographer Alina Vysotskaya has been studying the phenomenon of sleep in folklore narratives for more than 10 years and has amassed a rich collection of such records — both in personal writings and from thematic sources.
The author analyzes scientific approaches to studying the folk dream book as a phenomenon, shows how and why dream stories enter folklore, what structure they have, and what models they are built on. The book contains 2153 authentic records of dream stories: explanations, descriptions of fortune-telling and divination, warnings and advice, and ways to "lay" on a dream.
The geographical index allows you to refer to records from a specific region. The plot and trigger indexes provide an idea of the most important images and events in the lives of Belarusians over the past century and a half.
