The book “Belarusians in the Polish Army, 1919–1947” is a deep historical study of the participation of Belarusians in the Polish Army in one of the most tense periods of European history. The Polish-Soviet War, the interwar period, World War II and the post-war fate — through archival documents and testimonies. This is a story of forgotten heroism, devotion and dramatic destinies that have long demanded their voice.

***

This book tells about the participation of Belarusians in the regular formations of the Polish Army during the Polish-Soviet War, the interwar period, during World War II and after its end. The work is written on the basis of sources from the archives of Poland, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Lithuania, Canada and Russia. The author highlights one of the most tragic and difficult periods in the history of Belarusians and Poles, shows the true fighting brotherhood, cemented by the blood of both peoples. The historian focused on such aspects as the attitude of Polish citizens of Belarusian nationality to the fulfillment of military duty, the policy of the Polish authorities towards Belarusian servicemen, and their participation in hostilities. The post-war fate of these servicemen is also studied. The book is dedicated to thousands of Belarusians who fought selflessly in Polish uniforms, but were rejected and forgotten in their homeland for a long time.
