"Why is the truth so weak?" is a bilingual collection of philosophical, social, and mythological poems by one of the most prominent contemporary Belarusian authors, Ales Arkush. The texts, translated into Polish by Beata Siewiec, reflect complex issues of national identity, everyday life, and literary self-expression, presented through paradoxes, parables, and authorial irony.
Social, national, ideological, philosophical, aesthetic — the author eagerly absorbs everything and experiences everything as inherently personal, transforming the ordinary, everyday, openly social into a wondrous world of unexpected associations, paradoxes, myths and fables. (Ales Minkin)
