"Train to Poznan" is a book about life between countries and cultures, about finding oneself in a new space, where every encounter becomes a mirror of the emigrant experience. Alexei Prawołotski offers fifty stories in which nostalgia for Belarus, an attempt to comprehend Polish reality and personal traumas that do not lose their relevance even after moving are intertwined. This is not just a collection of essays, but a map of human destinies, on which each reader can find a response to their own path.

Alexei Pravolotsky was born in Minsk. He worked as a lecturer at the Minsk State Linguistic University. He lived in Odessa for some time, then moved to Warsaw. His debut book, "Life in Twelve Stories," was published in 2024.
The author's second book, "Train to Poznan," is fifty stories about life without a Catholic passport and an attempt to find the outlines of a new country. It is a series of portraits of real people, mostly Poles, plucked from various Polish cities and passed through the emigrant experience, nostalgia, and echoes of Belarusian trauma. Some characters appear only once, some emerge in different stories.
“Train to Poznan” is the winner of the 2024 Shufladka manuscript competition in the “Non-fiction” category.
