Aeneid

"The Aeneid" is a legendary ancient poem that has preserved its grandeur and uniqueness through the centuries. Written in the 1st century BC by the Roman poet Virgil, it tells the story of the birth of the Roman people, combining myth and history, the human and the superhuman.

At the center of this epic work is man, his journey and his choices. The nature of Aeneas is not only a story about the founding of Rome, but also an eternal story about the search for home, loyalty to duty, and the struggle with one's fate.

The Belarusian edition of "The Aeneid" opens this world to the reader in their native language, and also offers our Belarusian research on "The Aeneid" concerning the life and work of Virgil, "A Word to the Translator," a dictionary of Latin narrators, and a rich bibliographic appendix.

Lean von Barshcheuski's translation was first published in Minsk in a two-volume edition. Now the reader has a complete edition in one volume, corrected and improved.
