"Hebrew Melodies" is a poetic cycle from Heinrich Heine's last book, "Romanzero" (1851), which includes three works. "Princess Shabbat" is a sensitive and at the same time ironic narrative about one of the main holidays of the Jewish people – Shabbat. "Yehuda ben Halevi" is an elevated and humorous poem about the greatest Jewish poet of the Middle Ages. "The Disputation" is a witty critique of limited thinking and focus on dogmas, exemplified by a dispute between a rabbi and a monk. The book also includes the poem "Donna Clara" from the collection "Book of Songs." The translations are accompanied by a thorough preface by H. Sinila and commentaries.
