The history of European integration aspirations is very old, its beginnings reaching back to the distant Middle Ages. European intellectuals (from Dante Alighieri and Pierre Dubois onwards), driven by various motives, advocated for the unification of European countries to stop military conflicts, ensure peaceful coexistence, and consolidate efforts to achieve common goals. However, the true unification of these countries occurred only after World War II. In a concise form, the author examines all stages of the complex integration process.
