The map of the Belarusian People's Republic is a symbol of the first steps of modern Belarusian diplomacy, a testament to maturity and inherent rights. The map of the Belarusian People's Republic today is a symbol of belonging to the bold ideas of those who believed in Belarus, and a tribute to their memory.
From the history of the map's creation:
1918. World War I is ending. Nations got a chance for self-determination, for creating their own states. A peace conference begins in Paris, where it is to be decided how the world will be structured after the collapse of empires. Representatives from our land also participate, striving to prove the rights of Belarusians.
But what kind of land is this – Belarus?
Within what borders is the independence declared on March 25, 1918, asserted?
Belarusian diplomats needed a map. And the map was created and printed in early 1919, in Berlin. The first, compiled from independent Belarusian positions with thoughts about the future. The border encompasses the territory where Belarusian is spoken, as well as where people who identify themselves as Belarusians live.
