Blood circulation

Yulia Timofeeva's book "Blood Circulation" is a journey through time and space, where personal experience is intertwined with the history of the family and the continent. The author seeks to restore the threads of the past, to understand what unites her modern Europe with the one in which the knots of her family were tied. This is a story of the search for roots, memory and belonging, which is revealed to the reader through the poetic and sincere voice of one of the most interesting Belarusian writers.

"...I want to understand what unites my Europe with the one I live in, unites it not only now, but also in the past, when I did not yet exist, and the threads of my family were already knotted in knots on its map. I am looking for them in order to restore the history of my family, to connect them into one canvas with the stories I have known since childhood, to make my own life a part of it."

Yulia Tsimafeeva is a writer and translator. She is the author of four poetry collections in Belarusian and the documentary book "Minsk Diary", written in English and translated into six languages. Her poems have been published as separate books in the USA, Germany and Poland, and have appeared in numerous Belarusian and foreign magazines and anthologies.

Timofeeva has translated poetry books by Walt Whitman, Stephen Crane, Paul Celan, Enheduanna, and others, as well as children's books by Maia Lunde and Stian Hole. For her translation of Stephen Crane's poetry book, she won the Carlos Sherman Translation Award.

Since the end of 2020, the author has been living in exile in Europe. Since 2025, she has been a DAAD (Artists-in-Berlin Program) scholarship holder.
