"The disease is transmitted through the language of denial: it passes to the next generation through secrets, accusations, and lies" – such a thought would have been heard by Mira Zhdanovich at a meeting of ACA – Adult Children of Alcoholics. Mira, however, didn't make it to them: on a certain sunny day, she met a stranger who offered her an alternative path to self-liberation. A family saga, a social-psychological drama, sketch-memories, an emigrant's lament for a lost home, where hearts were broken, where happiness never lived... or did it?

Yana Hultsiayeva is a translator who graduated from the Department of Polish Studies at the Faculty of Philology of BSU in 2017. She is one of the winners of the "10+10: Minsk" short story contest (2018) and a graduate of the School of Young Writers (2020). Since 2021, she has been living in France, translating Belarusian and French poetry, short prose, and drama.
