"Our Crossword" is not just a collection of tasks, but an interactive journey into the world of Belarusian tradition. A game and memory repair, an art book and a cultural meditative experience. Each cell of the crossword is a thread, each pattern is a part of a living heritage that can be returned by entering the correct answer. A unique project that combines folk art, philosophy and a game.

Compiling crossword puzzles is not an easy job. It is somewhat reminiscent of weaving, where thread by thread a unique pattern of a towel, bedspread, or carpet is created. It is impossible not to notice the similarities between these two forms of human creativity.

The weaving patterns included in this book are not at all random. Each of them is taken from real examples of national traditional art. However, their fragmentation, incompleteness should remind us of the destruction that our heritage, tradition and culture have experienced over the centuries and which can be visually imagined as if a moth had eaten through a woven cloth. The unfilled cells of the crossword puzzle are “holes” in the bedspread, which can be “repaired” (“tacked”) by writing the correct answers there.
