Mikola Dziadok was detained on November 11, 2020, and was tortured during a raid. He was sentenced to five years in prison for his publications and criticism of the regime. In the fall of 2024, a new case was opened against him for disobeying the prison administration.

At the time of publication of the book, Mikola has been in solitary confinement for over a year and a half and in a punishment cell for over 124 days continuously. Mikola previously spent five years behind bars (2010-2015) for a series of radical anarchist actions.
