Struggle | STRÓJ

“Stroj | Stroj” is an exhibition and catalog of historical and traditional costumes from different eras of Belarus: from Polotsk princesses to peasant women from Polesie. All costumes are reconstructed with scientific accuracy, using authentic techniques - embroidery, weaving, sewing, braiding. The publication inspires a return to heritage and shows how rich and artistic the Belarusian clothing culture was.

Gold-patched silk ribbons, corsets and crinolines, incredibly elaborate wardrobe items of Belarusian peasant women, the creation of which takes months, even years of work — you will be able to see all of this within the exhibition.

Each outfit is not only a work of art, but also the result of scientific research. They are made using authentic textile techniques, such as embroidery, weaving, sewing, cutting, knitting and braiding. Each element of the outfit and accessory has a counterpart in historical sources.
