Aleksey Kuzmich is a significant figure in the contemporary art of Eastern Europe and the world. In his practice, Kuzmich develops the tradition of artistic activism that arose after the Second World War as a rethinking of the humanistic role of art in response to the strategy of its instrumentalization by totalitarianism and public consumption.
