"Soldiers of the Belarusian People's Republic" is a landmark publication on the history of Belarusian military affairs and the struggle for an independent Belarus in 1917–1923. Aleh Latyshonak analyzes the activities of Belarusian formations in various armies, the figure of Gen. Bulak-Balahovich, the participation of Belarusians from the Białystok region, and the geopolitical aspects of the struggle for the Belarusian People's Republic. This fourth, significantly expanded edition contains historical research, popular science texts, and rare documents.

Oleg Latyshonek's book "Soldiers of the Belarusian People's Republic" hides under its cover the author's many years of work in the field of Belarusian military affairs. It was based on the translation of his PhD thesis on Belarusian military formations in 1917-1923, published in Polish in 1995. The next block opens with a large popular science essay about Gen. S. Bulak Balakhovich. The essays are supplemented by scientific articles devoted to various aspects of the general's life and activities. These two blocks are supplemented by numerous articles devoted to individual Belarusian formations in various armies and outstanding Belarusian military personnel of that time, as well as the political aspects of the struggle for the Belarusian People's Republic. A separate block is created by articles devoted to the participation of Belarusians from the Białystok region in the struggle for an independent Belarus. The fourth edition of the book is supplemented by a "Foreword" by Warsaw University Professor Yuri Grybowski.
